ast Central sweeps Holmes in tourney

East Central rodeo team ranked among region's best ~ East Central Community College's rodeo teams are ranked among the best in the Ozark Region at the mid– way mark of the 2002-03 season according to results provided by the NatiOnal Intercollegiate Rodeo Asso– ciation. The Warriors are currently in fourth place in the region, while the EC women's team is ranked eighth. The Ozark Region includes 14 col– leges and universities throughout the Southeastern United States. Several members of the ECCC team are also ranked in their respec– tive categories. Daruel Moore is ranked first in the team roping heeler event and is in ninth place in the saddle bronc riding. Billy Mack Kinard has the top spot in the team roping header competi– tion. In bull riding, Chance Smart is in third place, while Drew Walters is ranked eighth. On the girls' side, Lacey Sanborn is ranked fourth ip breakaway roping, while JamieAndrews ofFlorence is in lOth place. Kasidi Griffin ranked 15th in barrel racing. The Warrior got 20 points from Corey Hornsby in a 76-73 win over the Bulldogs. while the EC women took a 68-60 victory. The win lifted East Central's men to 5-4 overall. "We·re startmg to play pretty good together," second-year East Central men's coach Bill Smith said. "Holmes is supposed to be the No. I team in the ortb and we were able to hold them in the fiN half." Holmes fell to 6-3. The Bulldogs fell behind EC 17-5 right out of the gate, although Holmes had rallied for a 32-30 lead at half– time.
