East Central wins own tournament .• EC's men defeated A sweep of Holmes success–

In addition to Hornsby, other EC scorers were Donzell Crewnshaw, 15, and Desmond Jones, 12 Holmes led 34-32 at the break. Also scoring for the Lady Warriors besides Foley were Rita Birden, 17; Kimyatta Viverette, 14; Britney Burks of Scott Central, eight; and Monique Overstreet of South Leake, three. EC led 38-26 at halftime.

Itawamba 82-68 and the Lady Warriors cruised to a 61-50 decision over the ltawamba women in first-round action. Hornsby led with 26, while J amaal Martin had 13, Brandon Mason posted 10 and Dewayne Hughes of Sebastopol finished with five. Scorers for the EC women were Lenore Gray, 20; Birden, 10; Overstreet, five; and Burks, two.
