ECCC teams sweep Delta The nationally ranked East Central
The Warriors also experienced a successful conclusion for 2000 competition with their 92-85 win over Delta's Trojans on December 4 and a 79-55 thumping of the Rhodes College junior varsity in Memphis on Thursday, December 7. Freshman Markeith Brown of Jackson Provine paced the Warrior attack against Delta with 22 points. Also scoring were Wrnfred Craig, 19, of Louisville: Joe Copeland, 11. of , Emerson, Arkansa : Matthew Roebuck, 10, of. Newton County Academy; Kent Chamblee, eight, of Leake Academy; Bretta August of New Orleans, James Denson of Choctaw Central and Eric Scott of Winnsboro, Louisiana, six each; and Chris Webb, four, of Neshoba Central. Delta led 52-49 at the break. Denson tallied 19 points in leading East Central against Rhodes College. Other point makers were Craig and Webb, 16 each; Roebuck, six;lScott and Clint Hatch of Carthage, five each; Brown and Leroy Murray of Scott Central, three each; and Augusta, Copeland and Maurice English of Union, two each.
Community College Lady Warriors completed 2000 action on a successful note by posting an 83-71 win over home standing Mississippi Delta Community College on Monday, December4. Sophomore guard Nicole Cox of Lake led all scorers with 25 points, followed by an 18- point performance by sophomore forward Alberta Norman of Newton. Other point mak– ers were Margo Porter of Louisville, 14; Anna Udicova of Presov, Slovokia, nine; La'Shonda Ford, seven and Sophia Reed, five, both of Forest; and Nikki Lacour of Natchitoches, Louisiana, four. The Lady Warriors held ~ 39-32 advantage at halftime. East Central, ranked 23rd in the latest NJCAA poll, will take a 9-2 overall record and l-0 South Division mark home for the Christmas holidays. Coach Sammy Pace's squad begins 2001 competition by hosting Itawamba Community College at 6 p.m. Thursday, January 4. The Lady Warriors will entertain division for Copiah-Lincoln at 6 p.m. Monday, January 8.
