ECCC Splits Pair Against Gulf Coast

East Central Commuruty College teams split with Gulf Coast onThursday, t'\o– vember 30 and fell to Northwest oo Tuesday, No– vember 28, in games played last week. Nicole Cox of Lake tallied 24 points m leadmg the Lady Warriors to an 87-79 win over the Gulf Coast women, while the Warriors, led by Choctaw Central product James Denson's 17 points, were clipped 70-66 by the Bulldogs. In addition to Cox. other EC point makers were Al– berta Norman of Newton, 23; Arma Udicova of Preso\', Slovakia, 19; Margo Porter of Louisville, 10; Nikki La– cour of Natchitoches, Lou– isiana, six; Jesstea Sanden> of Edinburg and Trehsha Eichelberg~r of . oxapater, two each; and Sophta Reed of Forest, one. East Central held a 47--H advantage at half-time. Also scoring for the warri– ors were Marke1th Brown of Jackson Provine, 14; Mat– thew Roebuck of :;\'ewton County Academ}, 11; Joe Copeland of Emerson, Ar– kansas, nine; Winfred Craig of Louisville, seven; Brett Augusta ofNew Orleans and Chris Webb of Neshoba Cen- 1 tral, three each; and Kent Chamblee of Leake Acad– emy, two. 1

Gulf Coast led 28-26 at the break. Against Northwest, the Lady Warriors were edged 71-70 while the EC men were outscored 91-69. Lady Warrior scorers were Udicova, 27; Cox, 16; Porter, 13; Reed, seven; Lacour, four; Ford, two; and Norman, one. The score was tied 37 a 11 at half-time. Denson led the Warriors with 12 points. Other scorers were Eric Scott of Winnsboro, Louisiana, 10; Augusta, Brown and Webb, eight each; Copeland, Craig and roebuck, seven each; and Leroy Murray of Scott Cen– tral, two. Northwest led 38-33 at the break. The Lady Warriors and Warriors took a pair from Mississippi Delta Commu– nity College on Monday, De– cember·4 to improve their re– cords to 9-2 and 6--5 respec- tively. l In remaining action prior to Christmas break, the East Central men will travel to Rhodes College in Memphis oo Thursday, December 7. Both teams begin 2001 by hosting ltawamba squads m Thursday, January 4. Copiah-Lincoln teams will be guests onMonday, January 8.
