The En::t Central Community College War– riors \~ent 1-3 m a pair of Sout h Division dou– bleheaders last week as they fell to 11-10 in the league and 20-23 overall. The Warriors have been eliminated from the stale tournamen t but hold a four-game lead over Southwest for a berth in the Region 23 Division I Tournament with only four games remaining. The Warriors and Bears play a dou– bleheader today at Summit and will also com– plete a r ain-s uspended game from April 1 in which the Bears hold a 3-2 lead in th e top of the fifth inning. Gulf Coast has already wrapped up a region– al berth. Also in the Region 2.3 Tournament are Meridian and Bossier Parrish from the Miss– Lou Conference and Northeast Mississippi from the MACJC North Division. • Pearl River 9-7, EC 1-3: East Central's late-season hitting slump continued in the April 18 doubleheader at Decatur as the Warriors managed ju:st two hits in the opener and four in the nightcap. EC led 1-0 t h r ough three jnnings in the opener aH Patrick Ferris was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the first inning and scored on a double by Brent Page. EC's only other hit was a single by Justin Webb. Pearl River took the lead for good on Jeremy Chance's t.wo-run homer in t he top of the fourth. The Wi ldcats picked up seven runs in the sixth to break the game open. Casey Weems' three-run lriple was the big blow. Pearl River had just three hits but received 13 walks. Warrior sta rter J ayeson McDonald (4-5) took the los~. Rudy Smith (7-5) got the win. Monty Migliacio got the Warriors off to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first in the nightcap with a two-run blast high off the scoreboard. Kent Chamblee, who had reached on an error, also scored on the blow. After the Wildcats got one run back in the top of the second, EC made it 3-1 in the bottom of the second. Spence Latimer was hit by a pitch and scored on a smgle by Chuck Welch.

Spence Latrmer and the ECCC Warriors are one win away from clinching a Region 23 Tournament berth. win with 3 2/3 innings of Ahutout relief. EC fell to 19 1 22 overall and 10-9 in the South Division . Pearl River improved to 24-17-1 and 10-8.
