And, the College's surgical technology program ha rece been awarded initial accreditation from the CommiSSJOO Accreditation of Allied Health Education Pro!!ram... On O..~ober 29 through '-:o,e- ber I. 2000, a team from the C ,jrn ·n College... of the Southern Association of Co~ and Schools (SACS \hlled ECCC for the Reaffumauon of Accreditation ae visit, which happens every ten )ears. The team included twelve professionals from col– ~es m eight <,tate aero s me South and a repre entative from lhe · 'lem A sociation of Colleges and Schools. The com- minee·, t.tsk was to review and make recommendations to unprO\c rhe educational quality of rhe college. I had the pri\ilege of attending the final session of the SACS committee and hear the report of their findings. Their few rec– ommendations and suggestions were minor. However, the comnutcee gave two impressive commendations: I.~ Committee commends ECCC faculty for their car m;. for their concern and commitment to the students and for their loyalty to the institution in accomphshing ns goal and objectives." 2. 1be committee commends ECCC for its outstanding faculry:· Dr. John Dv.]er of Decatur, Georgia, a representative of the SACS A socmuon. in closing remarks said, "1 have participat– ed L.'l dozens of these teams and it is rare for a college to recehe a commendation and very rare for them to receive t\\o:· East Central is one of me fastest growing community colleges in the Uie.
