ECCC Alumni Magazine, Newsletter, Web Page in Top Awards DECATUR--First-place honors m seYera1 categones were presented to the Public Information Of– fice at East Central Community College in Decatur following the atmual College Public Relations Association ofMississippi (CPR.Nv1) Conference Awards Ceremony held in Biloxi. East Central's alumni magazine, The Wamor. captured top honors for the second consecutive year. The publication is distributed in the fall and spnng semesters to approximately 7500 alumni and friends of the College. The student newsletter, EC Express. also recetYed a first-place award. The publication is mailed three times a year to senior and junior high school students in the ECCC District, which includes Leake, Neshoba, Newton, Scott and Winston counues.

In addition, the College's Web Page, eccc.cc.ms.us, received first-place honors for the second time in three years. The web site was created and is currently main– tained by Todd Eldridge, who serves the College as webmaster, library technical as– sistant and art instructor. Bubby Johnston, Director ofPublic Infor– mation, also received awards in the news and sports writing categories. Johnston woo second-place in the News Story cat– egory for his article, "Malone Earns Fire Tech Degree," and received a third-place award in the same category for his article, ·'GordonNamed Alumna ofthe Year." He was presented a third-place award in the Sports Story competition for his article, ··Ecq: Names Athletic Hall of Fame Re– cipients." In addition to Johnston, other members of the ColJege's Public Information Staff in– clude Maria McLeod and Karen Yates. Contributing writers for the alumni maga– zine include Dr. Eddie M. Smith, retiring president, and Carol and Ovid Vickers, retired faculty members.
