Receives Mosal Scholarship Philip Smith, right, of Philadelphia was recently presented the Dr. Margaret Mosal Memorial Scholarship for Leadership to attend East Central Community College in Decatur. The outstanding student is shown receiving the award from ECCC Math Division Chairman Dr. Shelby Harris who provided funding to help est~blish the annual award. Dr. Mosal, now deceased, resided in Canton and served 50 years as executive director of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society of two-year colleges. Dr. Harris, who co-spoAsors East Central's Theta Xi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa with Mrs. Ann Burkes, earlier received a Mosal Leadership Award stipend from the interna– tional organization. Smith, who recently completed his freshman year at East Central, was selected to serve as regional president of Phi Theta Kappa for 1998-99.
