Brian Shaw is named Distinguished Chapter President Award East Central Community College sophomore Brian Shaw of Forest was presented the Distinguished Chapter President Award at the 1998 Phi Theta Kappa International Convention held recently in Nashville, Tennessee. Shaw, a member of the College's Theta Xi Chapter, was one of only 25 recipients repre– senting the over 1200 Phi Theta Kappa organi– zations to receive the prestigious award. Individual honors were also presented to Amy Spears of Lena who received the George 0. Bierkoe Distinguished Member Award. In addition, Theta Xi received the Eichling Yearbook Award, Distinguished Chapter Award and Fellowship Hallmark Award. Theta Xi is ranked twelfth among all chapters participating in the Hallmark competition and first among chapters in the ,Miss\ssippi/ Louisiana region. Dr. Shelby Harris and Mrs. Ann Burkes serves as advisors. Phi ThetaKappa is the inter– national honor society for two-year colleges with chapters in all 50 states, Canada, Germany and U.S. territories aboard.
