The top 10: Kara Brown, Natchez; Erik Brown, Toom– suba; Michelle Burnett, Utica; Jill Childress, Summit; Amy Gomillion, Walnut GroYe; Melissa Hanna, Gautier; Margaret Mills, Nettleton; Daniel Osborne, Ridgeland; Patricia Sullivan, Mt. Olive: and Tamra Warren, Brook– haven. Not all are fresh from high school; some returned to school to pick up degree.;, others for personal growth. The strength of the two-year college system is demon– strated by such diversity, as shown by the comments of award winner Patricia Sullh~. age 50: "Becoming a junior college student opened up a whole new life for me.... I cfucovered I could still learn. As my self-assurance grew, I became more involved in campus ac– tivities. Before I even knew what occurred, I was finding fulfillment and direction that had been missing for many years.
