Lally, an All-Region 23 and All-Slate selection, led th~ Diamond Warrior pitching staff with a 10-5 record and 1.37 ERN Lally worked 98 innings during the 1996 season and registered a team-best 60 strikeouts. He also allowed just 35 runs and 62 hits. Lambert batted .293 and hit five home runs. He registered ·a team-best 35 stolen bases and collected 21 RBis. McBride posted a .260 batting average, collected 10 doubles and had22 RBis . Jones batted .231 and IS ~ graduate of Neshoba Central High School During Coach Clark's tenure at East Central. which began in 1987. 51 of his former playe:ts have received senior college scholarships or have been draft~ ed by professional teams. ~. Concerning the 1996 Diamond Warriors, wltich registered a record 31 season victories and qualified fo r the1r fir.st appear– ance in the Region 23 Tournament, Coach Clark com– mented: "This was another fine group of men who really repre– sented East Central well m the classroom and on the field. From special reports DECATUR - Eighl members of the 1996 East Central Co mmu nity College baseball team will continue their athletic career s at various four-year schools, announced ECCC coach Jamie Clark. Signees include pitcher Tony Perozo of Lake, who inked with Delta State University; pitcher Kenny Estes of Bastrop, La., and outfielder Tommy Bost of Collinsville , Louis iana Tech; pitcher Willis Lally of Breaux Bridge, La., Southwestern Louisiana; shortstop Cary Lambert of Gonzales , La ., Southeastern Louisiana; out– fielder Greg McBride of Newton, Alcorn State University; th1rd baseman Jonathan Jones of Philadelphia, Belhaven; and first baseman Eric Cook of Carthage, Millsaps College. Returning sophomore Marcus Thames, a pitcher/outfielder from Louisville, was drafted m the 30th round of the New York Yankees but has decided not to go pro and will return for the 1997 campaign. Perozo, a relief pitcher. posted a 1-0 record and a 1.56 earned run average. Estes recorded a 9-6 mark and a 4.63 ERA. He also hurled a no– hitter during the 1996 campaign. Bost, an All-State performer, batted .333 and led the team in home runs with seven. He also collected 10 triples, 10 doubles. a
