Kizziah keeps Warriors perfect with 20-17 win

FromSpecl•l R•ports Quarterback Jake Kizziah ran for one touchdown and threw for another to help East Central de– feat Itawamba 20-17 Thursday night at Decatur. The victory gives the Warriors a 4-0 record, their best start since 1983. The Indians fall to 2-2. East Central struck for the first two touchdowns, with Kizziah pro– viding the second on a 16-yard run in the second quarter. After Itawamba cut the lead to 13-3 at the half, Kizziah quickly put the Warriors back in control in the third quarter with his 10- yard touchdown pass to Undeon Hardy, making it 20-3. Pearl River 29, Southwest 22: Quarterback Shane Tapper sparked the Wildcats to a South Divison victory over Sout hwest at Summitt. Pearl Riverjumpedouttoa 14- 0 lead, but the Bears reeled off19 unanswered points to lead 19-14 at the half. That's when Tapper took charge as Pearl River scored two touchdowns in 21 :-e<.."Onds. Tapper carried two yards for the first TD and passed to Willie Ducksworth for the 2-point com-er-

sion. The Wildcats recovered a Southwest furilble on the following kickoff. and Tapper passed 36 yards to Ducksworth for the score. Pearl River improv~s to 2-2, 1- 0, while Southwest is 2-2, 0-1. Northwest 51, l!ast Missla• sippi 36: Tailback O.J. Cooper rushed for 163 yards and scored t.hree touchdowns to lead the Rang– ers to a North Division victory over the Lions at Scooba. Cooper scored on runs of7, 45 and 1 yards. But O.J. wasn't the, only Cooper Northwest depend– ed on. After falling behind 28-24 with 14:01left in the game, Kevin Cooper returned the kickoff 87 yards for to put the Rangers, 2-2, 1-0, back on top to stay. James Johnson led the Lions, 2- 2, 0-1,with 180yards and 2 TDs.
