Former Warrior standout joins EC coaching staff David Martin, a former All-State performer on the East Central Com– munity Co"ege baseball team, has joined the Diamond Warrior staff as an assistant, announced head coacb Jamie Clark.

Manin, a native of Bossier Ci– ty, La., and a former standout at Airline High School, was a member of the ECCC team dur– ing the 1991 and 1992 cam– paigns. As a sophomore, Mar– tin served as team captain and set a team record for most hits (52) enroute to a .375 batting average. A second baseman, Martin was also recognized for hb defensive abilities as he was the recipient of the best defensive player award. He continued his athletic career at Livingston University

(now the University of West Alabama) and later transferred to Texas A&M, which won the Southwest Conference Championship, finished fo urth in the College World series and posted a 53-11 record his junior season. Martin batted .297 as an Aggie and received the team's student athlete award for maintaining at least a 3.0 grade point average. He graduated from A&M with a bachelor's degree in animal science. Coach Clark said Martin will serve as a hitting instructor and will also assist in fieldi ng instruction.
