WEEK OF 5- Richard Edwards chosen as EC drum major for marching band By TIFFANY EDWARDS Update Reporter the position of head d rum major. At Scott Centra l, Richard is actively involved in the school's band program. Richard has been a member of the band for seven years, where he has played both the trum– pet and the French horn. Richard has also served as drum major for the Scott Central Rebel Marching Band for the past two years. In his tenure as drum major, Richard has received four consecutive "Superi– or" ratings at state and district festi– vals and will be competing along with the "Rebel Prid e"" in Gatlin– burg, Tennesse, at the end of April. When asked how he felt about receiving the posi tion, Richard said,'Tm very exci ted. It's some– thing I really worked for and want– ed." He also added, "I'd like to thank my family a nd friends for their encouragement and support." Richard Edward s, a senior at Scott Central High School, was recently signed to the East Central Community College Warrior March– ing Band a s one of the two drum majors for the next two years. Due to the growing size of East Central's Ma rching Band, Directo r Thomas Ca rson decided to add a second assistant drum major. Sixteen of the senior d rum majors from the five– county area that supports East Cen– tral were invited to audition for the position. Of those audi tioned, Richard was selected to fill the posi– t ion of assistant drum majo r . As assistant drum major, Richard will work with Ms. Brandy Crenshaw, East Central's head drum major.
