By Mark Beason The Mend1an Star DECATUR- The Blue Jay's of Iowa Western Community College wanted to take advantage of Mississippi's climate to hone their baseball skills. They still need more work. East Central improved to 15-11 while Iowa Western fell to 6-6. Covington (1-0), a fresh– man from Denham Springs, La., was devastating, going six innings, striking out six and walking just two. He faced the minimum number of batters. "Mitch Covington came out tonight and threw great," Warriors' coach Jamie Clark said. "He has done a great job of making the transition from high school to college." The Warriors got on the board in the bottom of the third inning.
