Smith Joins ECCC Staff Newton CountY native Melinda Bullard Smith has been named Enghsh instructor at East Central Community College in Decatur, announced Dr, Eddie M. Smith, College president.

Smith previously taught English at Enterprise H igh School, Newton Coun ty Academy and Manor High School to Portsmouth, Virginia. \ She is former adjunct faculty member at the University of North Florida and Florida Com– munity College , both in Jacksonville, Florida. She is a former graduate teaching assis– tant in the English Department at the University of Southern Mississippi. Smith , who began het duties on August 10, said " I am very excited about this position at

East Central Community College. lt is a goal toward which l have worked for a long time. l am very pleased to be here and back home in Mississippi." A graduate of Leake Academy, Smith received an associate of arts degree from East Central Junior College before conunuing her education at the UniversitY of Southern Mississippi. At USM. she received a bachelor of science and a master of cience degree in English. She is marned to Michael Smith of Union, and the) plan to re:.ide in Union when he returns from his duties with the NaV) in Florida. She is the daughter of Buster Bullard and the late Bonnie Bullard of Union. Rowzee previously served as Associate Degree Nursing Pro– gram Director at Holmes Com– munity College and as associate degree nursing instructor at Meridian Junior College and Holmes Junior College.
