South Division Tourney is Feb . 13th... Lady Warriors get past Holms 78-73

Lady Warriors Monica Da\ls and Brandi Harber combined for 39 points and led East Central Com– munity College to a 78-73 come– from-behind win over Holmes Community College Thursday night. The ECCC women, who im– proved to 16-5 overall and remain– ed 7-3 in league pia}, trailed throughout most of the non– division matchup until LaDonna Robinson's short jumper gave EC the lead for good at 59-58 with just over five minutes remaining. East Central was led in scoring by Davis who pumped in 20 points followed by Harber's 19-point ef– fort. Also scoring were Genia Grif– fin, 9; Robinson , 8; J .J . Moorehead, 7; Melody Reed, 6; Cyntia Ellis, 4; Dane Vance, 3; and Jennifer Alexander, 2. Holmes led 34-26 at halftime. In men' s action , Holme~ outscored the Warriors by a 75-60 margin. East Central, which dropped to 9-14, was led in scoring by P hilip Prince with 17 points. Other point– makers were Johnny Maye, 16; Jamie Suttles, 10; Darvis Rasberry and Bobby Viverette, 6 each; Alphonzo Norman, 3; and Mike Hurst, 2. Holmes led 44-34 at halftime. The Wildcats led 45-27 at intermission. REMAINil\IG SEASON GAMES Only two games remain for both ECCC squads prior to competition in the MACJC South State Tour– nament East Central hosts Jones Junior College on February 6 and tra.,.els to Gulf Coac;t Community College on February 9. This year East Central win serve as host site for the South division tournament which is ~chcduJed February 13-16 (Monday through Thursday) in the Brackeen-Wood Physical Education Building. Although brackets .,..;u not be set until season competition concludes later this week, game times have been established. Matchups are scheduled at 4:00, 6:00 and 8:00 on Monday and Tuesday; 2:00, 4:00 6:00 and 8:00 on Wednesday, wit' finals set for 6:00 and 8:00 Thur day n ru.
