defeat Casper ECCC's run gave the Lady Warriors a 55-42lead with about 10 minutes to play. "Every ~ood team has a run," Pace said. "I thmk we had a little letdown starting off the second half because we had a lead, but Casper really came out and did a good job." with an 11-4 run, which included hitting 5-of-7 free throws in the last three min– utes to hang on for the win. Pace said he fel t it was important for his team to get back quickly on defense to slow down the Thunderbirds' fast break. 'We didn't do that the first few minutes of the second half," he said.
ECCC led 39-31 at the half, but the Thunderbirds' run was highlighted by two free throws from Hayley Swan, who fin– ished with 10 points, and two offensive putbacks from Lori Sherrod, who finished with 11 points, that allowed them to take a two-point lead. The Lady Warriors ended their scoring drought with a basket by Odom, six points from Reed and a three-pointer by Leflore as part of their run to take a seemingly convincing lead. Casper did not go quietly, as the Thunderbirds pulled to within three– points at 57-54 courtesy of a 12-2 run of their own. But the Lady Warriors closed the game
The first half saw Casper jump out to a 10-6 lead before ECCC scored 16 of the game's next 18 points to take a 22-12 lead, the last two on two free throws by Reed. With five minutes left in the half and the Lady Warriors leading 33-21, Casper scored six in a row to cut the lead to seven. After the teams traded baskets, ECCC's Dane Vance hit what Pace called a "critical" basket off an offensive rebound to give the Lady Warriors their halftime lead. ECCC outrebounded Casper 45-29 dur– ing the game. Monica Davis·came off the Lady Warrior bench to grab a game-high 11 rebounds while Nelson had 10.
