Warriors start season with 12·3 overall Freshman Tony Bailey pumped in 28 points and led East Central Com– munity College to an 84-73 win over visiting Copiah-Lincoln in South Divi– sion action Thursday night in the Brackeen-Wood Physical Education Building. Boatman's 22 points led all scorers. Other East Central pointmakers were Shontel Lowe, 14; Shea Oakley, 11; Jackie Gladney, seven; Paula Nash, six; Beverly Ware, three; Tonya Stowers and Brooke Smith, two each. three; Marcella Torrence, Tammie Rigdon, Brooke Smith and Shea Oakley, two each. East Central led 37-30 at halftime. In men's action, Kevin Kennedy led scorers with 26 points.

. Other pointmakers were Tyrone Stowers, 14; Tyron Bender, 11 ; Tony Bailey, 10; Charlie Donnerson, and J.P. Viverette, seven each; Terry Thames, six; Mark Stribbling, four ; and Vandy Hopson, two. The Warriors led 42-29 at halftime. In games played January 4, Boat– man blistered the backboards for 32 points and led the Lady Warr iors to an 88-73 win over Patrick Henry. Also scoring were Lowe, 10; Gladney, nine; Wright, eight; Clay, seven; Stowers and Nash, six ea ch; Smith and Oakley, four each ; and Hendon, two. East Central led 41-37 at halftime. In the men's game , the Warriors easily downed Northwest Ala bama by a !10-58 score. Warrior poinlmakers were Ken– nedy, 19; Viverette, 16; Bender, 14 , Nash, 12; Bailey, nine; Donnerson, seven; Stribling, five ; Hopson four ; and Mays, two. East Central led 4o-30 at halftime.

A new addition to the Lady Warrior squad is Tammie Rigdon, a 5-8 freshman guard from Decatur. Rigdon was a member of the 1989-!10 Decatur squad which posted a 31-4 record and captured the State Class 2A championship. Co-Lin was led by Shannon Mon– tgomery's 15 points. The score was tied (33-33) at halftime. JONES TOURNAMENT Both East Central teams par– ticipated in an invitational tourna– ment held January 4-5, 1991 at Jones County Junior College in Ellisville. During action J anuary 5, the Lady Warriors defeated Brewer State 67-58 and the EC men also outscored their Brewer State opposition by a 95-69 margin. The East Central men, under second-year bead coach Jay Bowen, are orr to their best start in recent years and currently post a 12-3 overall slate and 2-1 mark in division play. Sammy Pace's Lady Warriors fell short of victory against the Co-Lin women who remained undefeated following their 7~ victory. The Lady Wolves, ranked seventh nationally prior to the East Central contest, are 12.0 overall and 2.0 in league action. Following their loss, the EC women fell to 8-3 and 2-1. Besides Bailey, other Warrior point– makers were Tyrone Stowers, 18; Kevin Kennedy, 11; Terry Thames, 10; Eric Mays, Vandy Hopson and J.P.
