In every Mississippi county, city and town, and on nearly every Mississippi street, road and rural route lives someone who attended a Mississippi community or junior college. The Clarion-Ledger colum– nist Danny McKenzie, an alumnus of three Mississippi community col– leges, had the idea to gather these folks together to create a Mississip– pi Community and Junior College Inter-Alumni Association. Tha t association is now a reality with a constitution and by-laws, of– ficers and board of directors, and aims and objectives. McKenzie, Mississippi's 15 two-year college presidents and representatives, and juco alumni met in Jackson on Feb. 26 and formed the Mississippi Com– munity and Junior College Inter– Alumni Association. The group hopes to mobilize the large number of Mississippians who have community college roots. Community College Specifically, the orga ntza lion plans to aid the community and junior colleges in four area s: func– tion, facilities, faculty and finances. Association members will garner support for programs which meet local needs, adequate facilities, qualified faculty and sufficient funding.
