Orientations slated at ECCC Four orientation sessions are scheduled this summer at East Central Community College in Decatur, with the fli'St session set to begin at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 1990. Other sessions are planned for Wednesday, July 18; Tuesday, July 31; and Saturday, August 18. phin, Dean of Students. Dr. Sutphin said orientation ses– sions are designed to inform stu– dents about the academic process and the many other opportunities available on campus. During orientation, he said students have the opportunity to advance register for classes, take required placement tests and learn of the wide variety of academic, social and personal op– portunities available of East Cen– tral. quainted with ·other students and meet informally with college ad– ministrators and faculty members. Students will further oecome familiar with campus facilities and avoid the feeling of being ll "stranger" upon arrival in the fall . To complete an orientation ses– sion, a student must provide the following for advance registration: (1) application for admissions; (2) ACT score (for academic/technical students only - not applicable to vocational students); (3) high The orientation program enables students to enter the community college ~fully mfonned and confi– dent · concemmg what to expect when the fall term begins in Au– gust, according to Dr. Phil Sut- By attending orientation, Dr. Sutphin said students will also have an opportunity to become ac-

Dr. Sutphin said the only charge for attending orientation is a SSO.OO registration fee which is applied toward fees to enroll for the fall semester. He said lunch is provided in Mabry Cafeteria compliments of East Central. Parents are also encouraged to at– tend orientation and have lunch with students and college officials.
