Northeast got i flnt points in the game v.ith 6:20 left before halftime on a one-yard plunge by running back Scotty Shaw, wh1ch capped a 66-yard drive. Renardi Boyd added the PAT. On their next pos~ession, the Warriors once again found the end– zone when Byrd and Kendrick Col– eman connected on an 11-yard scor– ing strike with S9 seconds remain– ing before halftime. Porter's PAT gave EC a 24-7 halftime advantage. The key play of the 70-yard march was a 39-yard pass play from Byrd to Coleman who made a spec– tacular catch after the pigskin had been deflected by EC receiver Tony Kidd. Coleman's reception and run put the Warriors on the Northeast IS with 1 :26left before intermission. After a scoreless third period, Holifield gave East Central its final points of the night when he tallied on a 24-yard sprint with 12:48 re– maining. Porter's PAT put the War– riors out front by a 31-7 margin. The scoring drive covered 63 yards. Northeast registered the game's last score when haw again found paydirt, this time on a two-yard blast with 9:38 left. Boyd's PAT made the final score East Central 31 , Northeast 14. Serving as Warrior captains on their flnal game were Byrd, Kidd, Felton Burroughs and Brent Bailey. STATISTICS East Central had 1 S first downs while Northeast registered 12. The Warriors had 319 yards rushing and 84 passing for 403 total yards. Sammy Holifield led rushers with 130 yards on 19 carries. Other top ground gainers were Anthony Walker, 97 yards on 13 carries; Willie McClelland, 64 yards on la attempts; and Lamont Byrd, 3S yards on S carries. Byrd completed S of 8 passes for 84 yards and one touchdown. Receptions were made by Tony Kidd, 3 for 34 yards and Kendrick Coleman, 2 for SO yards and one touchdown.
