A resolution honoring retiring East Central Community College Board o f Trustee member Lomer Eugene Cliburn of Union was recently passed by the college'~ governing body and presented 10 the former East Central administrator a nd instruc10r on the occasion of hio; 90th birthday. \\ HERE-'\S Mr. Lomer Eugene Clibu rn is this month completing h1s second tl\e-year term on the Board of T rustees of East Central Com– mum!} College acti\ely representing his home district, Beat Four of ' eshoba Coumy, and \\ HEREAS Mr. Lomer Eugene Cliburn is observing hil> ninetieth bir– thda~ this same month and WHEREAS Mr. Lomer Eugene Cliburn served in public school ad– ministration in central Mississippi from the la te 1920's to the mid 1950's and then served with distinction in several positions a t East Central J unior College for fou rteen years including Director of Maintena nce, Coordinator o f Vocational Education, a nd classroom teacher in educa – tion and psychology and WHEREAS Mr. Lomer Eugene Cliburn worked diligently in key places of leadership in addition to his main assignments above includ ing assignments on the student d iscipline committee, on student recruiting teams, o n sponsorship of the Student Education Association, and on the Baptist Student Union Faculty Advisors Council and WHEREAS Mr. Lomer Eugene Cliburn has for many years en– thusiastically supported varsicy athletics at East Central Community Col– lege -- a nd still does - by h is presence in the stands for many sporting events d uring the year and WHEREAS Mr. Lomer Eugene Cliburn is held in highest esreem by his former colleagues at the college, fellow members of the Board of T rustees, and thousands of students whose lives have been enriched by having had rhe opportunity to know him to observe his exemplar; bfe and sit in his classes. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Board of T rustees of East Central Community College, asc;embled for its regular meeting on December 4, 1990. does hereb) commemorate the outstan– ding life of service of Lomer Eugene Cliburn. that \..e commend him for his undying loyalty to th1s mstnution as well as hi<; alma mater, Mississippi CoUege, and that we wish for him many additional years in which to enjoy the fruit~ of his labor.
