Three ECCC players sign scholarships

was an outstanding 81.3 percent. Lady Warrior head coach Sammie Pace announced sophomore Shontel Lowe has signed with the Universi– ty of Mississippi Lady Rebels. Lowe, a 6-foot center, is a graduate of Pebody Margent High School in Alexandria, La . She is currently averaging 15.4 ponits per game, 9.6 rebounds and 2.8 steals. Her shooting accuracy from the field is presently at 73 percent. The East Central women are also off to a 4-1 start.

Three East Central Community College basketball players signed national letters of intent with senior universities last week, announced college officials. Jay Bowen, now in his second year at the Warrior helm, said Tyrone Stowers, a 6-5, 210-pound sophomore forwa rd from Forest, signed with Livingston University in Livingston, Ala . and Michael James, a 6-8, 220-poind sophomore forward from Gary, In. inked a scholarship with Georgia State University m Atlanta . Stowers, who was a s tandout player at Scott Central High Schook, is currently scoring an average of 17.5 points per game in leadmg the Warriors to a 4-1 start. As a freshman, Stowers average 16.8 points per contest and 4.1 rebounds. The honorable mention AU-Stater ranked fourth in the county last year in field goal percentage by making 53.8 percent of shots from the field. He hit on 60 percent of all free throws. James, also named to the All– State honorable mention squad as a freshman, is averaging 9 points per game and 7.3 rebounds on the young season. He has made 75 percent of all field goals. A prod!Jct of Lew Wallace high School in Gary, James averaged 8.9 points per contest and 5.9 rebounds during the 1989-90 cam– paign. His free-throw percentage
