17 E.C. Warriors receive post-season honors

Seventeen East Central Com– munity College football players received post-season honors follow– ing the 1989 campaign, announced A.J. Kilpatrick, Warrior Athletic Coordinator- Head Coach. Named to the ftrst-team AU-State squad are defensive end Ronnie Williamson of Nanih Waiya, runn– ing back Darnell Brown of Decatur and punter Lamont Byrd of Car– rollton, Georgia. Williamson and Brown, along with offensive tackle Matt Rhodes of Griffin, Georgia were named to the All-Star team and helped in leading the South Division to a 24-21 victory. The annual classic was played December 2 at Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville.

Warriors chosen on the second team All -State squad include Rhodes, defensive backs Arlando Daniel of Carrollton, Georgia and Felton Burroughs of Thomasville, Alabama. Those receiving honorable men– tion All-State honors include defen– sive backs Ira McDowell of Griffm, Georgia and David Nichols of Mor– ton; tight end Anthony Clark of Louisville ; linebackers Wyatt Williams of Demopolis, Alabama and Opie Ray of Philadelphia; wide receivers David Savell of Decatur and Tony Kidd of Sylacauga, Alabama; defensive tackles Jimmy Brown of Morton and Shawn White of Louisville; and noseguard Dynassus Buggs of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
