Everett to preside over -workshop The Delta Kappa Gamma Society In– ternational, Zeta State, will hold its 1985 Summer Workshop on August 10 at Jackson Branch, Hinds Junior College. The Workshop will start at 9:30 and will end at 12:15 p.m. Mrs. Merleen Ivey, Alpha Pi Chapter in Jackson, will act as chairman for this meeting. Mrs. Jessie Everett, Xi Chapter, of Decatur and Mississippi President will preside at the Workshop while Dr. Angela Bedenbaugh First Vi.:e President and Program Chairman of Zeta State will be in charge of the program. Infor– mation from Southeast Regional Con– ference, held in Charlotte, North Carolina, July 29 through August 3, as well as other program information will be presented at this state-wide workshop. Other officers of Zeta Staie, which. is · made up of key women teachers from throughout Mississippi are: Second Vice President, Miss Carolyn Palmer, Preston; Corresponding Secretary, Miss Johnnie Nell Henry, Meridian; Recor– ding Secretary, Dr. Joan Butler, Starkville; Treasurer, Miss Sarah Smith, Vicksburg; Executive Secretary, Miss Janice Calhoun, Mount Olive; Parliamentarian, Mrs . Glenda West, Okolona; Zeta Data Editor, Miss Rubye Del Harden, Fulton; Directory Editor, Mrs. Betty Moore, Greenville; and Im– mediate Past President, Dr. Oneita Keith, Greenville. All members are in~ vited to attend this Workshop on August 10 at Jackson Branch.
ECJC Receives Grant
Dr. Charles V. Wright, President of East Central Junior College, has announced that a continuation grant in the amount of $146,398 has been awarded to East Central for the second year budget of a five-year program under the Higher Education Act of 1965, Title III. The money will be used for continuation and strengthening of the basic studies, computer science, and electronics technology instruc– tional areas and for ad– ministrative services im– provement. First funded under Title III in 1967, East Central is now receiving its tenth allocation. The program's objective is to strengthen developing in- stitutions and all awards are made on a competitive proposal , basis. East Central's proposals have involved instructional, ad– ministrative, and student services areas of development.
