Warriors start homestand The East Central Junior College War– riors traveled to Summit on November 25th and 26th to participate in the Southwest Coca-Cola Classic. First round action pitted the warriors against the Bobcats of Jones Junior College. Jones emerged as the victor, 99-85. Free throws were a key factor in the game as Jones connected on 23 of 31 while the Warriors managed only 11 of 21. Leading scorers for the Warriors includ– ed Talby Bender with 21 points, Bob Holloway with 14 points, and Terry Hoskins iwth 13. Kenny Morgan and Arness Georgetown added 12 each. For Jones, Eddie Holifield had 29 points and Darnell Husband added 20. Bender was selected to the All– Tournament Team for the Warriors. Jones County Junior College captured the championship by defeating Southwest in the finals by a score of 71-70. The following night the Warriors fac" ed the Lions of EMJC. Free throws again proved to be the deciding factor as the Warriors matched the Lions basket for basket from the floor but could not convert at the foul line. East Central made only 4of10 free throw at– tempts while East Mississippi connected on 9 of 15 attempts. The Warriors were led by John Viviens with 18 points while Kenny Morgan added 14 and Talby Bender added 11 points. Whitfield led East Mississippi with 24 points. Talby The Warriors begin a three game homestand against Clarke College on Saturday, December 7. On December 9, Jones Junior College travels to East Cen– tral and on Thursday, December 12, the Warriors close out the first half of the season as they host East Mississippi Junior College.

"Only three or four of our returnees have played very much, except maybe Anderson and Hoskins, who have a consid– erable amount of playing time," Gressett said. "But I ·feel we have some good quick guards coming on that can help us on down the line. "
