I Warriors d own Panthers by six By George Miller The Meridian Star - ..< ?. this season and each team boasted a win.

"We shot the ball poorly and those 10 turnovers i n the second half really decided the game," Clarke coach Josh Butler said. "You have got to give that bunch credit because they came over here and played well. " Clarke was also guilty of five turnovers in the first half, but managed to hold a 31-30 lead at intermission. Our turnovers and not shooting the ball well really turned the game around for them," Butler added. East Central (5-14) and Clarke (4-22) scored alternating baskets for most of the first half a s seven ties resulted. The final one of the half was a t 14-14. Kevin Bailey broke it with a free throw (15-14) with 10:15 re- maining in the segment. The Warriors spurted to a five-point lead (24-19)with 5.50 left, but the Panthers countered with six points to trim a 28-21 deficit to 28-27. Those were the only scor- ing splurges of the half that were more than single baskets. "I was just glad to get out of here alive," Warriors' coach Larry Gressett said. The twn teams have met twice

"We started getting on the boards and we went lo a 2-1-2 zone in the second half. We started hitting our baskets," Gressett added. "We weren't alert at all in the first half. We started out well, but we weren't sharp and we went to sleep." It was the second road win in a row for the Warriors. "I guess we woke up in time to win and it's always important when you win two gacles on the road," Gressett contrnued. Anderson and Drummond pac- ed the East Central scoring with 16 and 14 points as Arness Georgetown and Hoskins added 12 and 10 points respectively. "I guess they had another in- centive to win. I told them that we would have a hard practice if we lost," Gressett said. "It's always nice to beat a former player and to win two on the road." Terrell led the Panthers with 21 points a s John Jones and Ar- mistead added 18 and 14 points. The Warriors will host Copiah- Lincoln in Decatur Monday night with the round beginning a t 6.
