Dr. Eddie M. Smith, President, East Central Junior College in Decatur, has announced the selection of Erle E. "Bubby" Johnston, 111 of Forest as the school's new Director of Pubiic Infor- mation. Johnston, son of Mr. and Mrs. Erle Johnston of Forest, succeeds Mrs. Terry Gressett who recently resigned the post. He assumed his new duties January 5, 1987. Johnston, 34, is the former editor of the Scott County Times, a weekly newspaper in Forest, which was owned by the Erle Johnston family from 1939 until July 1983, when the publication was sold to Scott Publishrng, Inc. The new Public lnforrnation Director brings to the post approximately 10 years of journalism experience. Johnston serv-

ed eight years at the Scott County Tim and also worked for Scott Coun Broadcasting Company in Forest, t Star-Herald weekly newspaper I Kosciusko, and The Reflector, a camp publication of Mississippi S t a University. Johnston is a 197 1 graduate of Fore High School and a 1975 graduate Mississippi State University, wh received a B.S. degree in G Business with minor emphasis in nalism. At MSU he was a Presi and Dean's List Scholar and w ducted into Blue Key and ODK honor societies. He was also a member ot Kappa Alpha fraternity where he h various offices.
