He received a master's degree in music education from Louisiana State University. Among his credits, Hinson has 12 gospel songs in print which have been us- ed by various publishers. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha fraternity and the American Choral Director's Association. His wife, Marie, is a teacher at Boler Elementary School in Decatur. They have one son, Chuck, who is a freshman business major at East Central Junior College.

Charles Hinson, choral director at East Central Junior College in Decatur, has been named chairman of the 1987-88 Mississippi State Junior College Choral Festival. The choral festival will be held in the Spring of 1988 at Hinds Junior College, which serves as host each year. Hinson received the honor following ECJC's recent participation in the 1986-87 choral festival. The festival is a two-day event with about 400 students participating from all 18 state junior col- leges. Performances are made by each choir, vocal ensemble, and a mass choir concert is held the final night. Hinson is in his fourth year at East Central. Besides serving as choral direc- tor, Hinson teaches freshman theory, music appreciation, music survey, and voice. Before coming to East Central, Hin- son taught in high schools and a junior college in Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi. He also hzis served as full-
