ECJC Students Win State Junior College Scholars' Bowl By: Keith Justice
Hie questions were suCh that no one could have learned enough to answer them by reading a single book or "cram– ming" several hours of study into a single night or weekend, Turner said. "Being able to answer those questions required a broad background, not only in science but in general studies of Western civilization .'' Plaques, trophies, and a resolution from the state legislature recognizing their achievement notwithstanding, the four ECJC sophomores were ,offered one additionai "perk" in recognition of their scholarly abilities--an opportunity for each of them to attend Ole Miss on a $3,000 scholarship.

Gerald Turner , the Chancellor of Ole Miss, said he was able to watch the final two rounds of the competition and could attest to the ECJC team's performance. "I can tell you how well these students did," Turner said. "They answered a number of questions that those of us in the back of the room were asking each other, ·"What's the answer to that?"'
The catch is that the scholar– ships can be used only at Ole Miss. ''This is money that can only be spent in one place--at Ox-
