This Week In Leake
Sue Gunter, who has become one of the most outstanding coaches in wo– men's basketball in America, is being . recognized for her achievements in that field on Saturday at Walnut Grove. She began playing ball there as a child, and this year was the coach of the American team that was to play in the Olympic Games in Moscow. Another week ofsearing heat sent one man to the hospital, prompted the open– ing of heat shelters in Carthage for the elderly, and continues to parch crops. Water and electrical customers are as– ked to cut down on the use of both water and power to avoid possible shortages. .. Gov. William Winter is due in Carth- • t- age today to have lunch with friends , visit people in town , and to inspect the heat shelters set up Wednesday to help the elderly who do not have adequate cooling facilities.
