Memorial award presented to ECJC honoring former Noxapater resident

DECATUR - On April :w, during the annual Awards Day at East Cen– tral Junior College in Deca– tur, a new memorial award was presented to the col– lege. The award, a loving cup, was given to the col– lege to be awarded each year to the student who excells in the field of speech. The new memorial award was given in memory

of Mrs. Sue Yarbrough Ful– gham by her mother, Mrs. Ruby Yarbrough, of Win– gate College, N.C. formerly of Noxapater and Miss Pa– tricia Triplett, a cousin of Mrs. Fulgham, who is a · member of the faculty at Noxapater Elementary School. Sue Yarbrough entered East Central Junior College as a freshman in 1952 and

graduated with an AA De– gree in 1954. While at East Central, she majored in speech and theatre and was active in all phases of speeeh and theatre activi– ties. She appeared in three of the college stage produc– tions and represented the college in speech tourna– ments both her freshman and sophomore years. She was an honor student and was elected Miss East Cen– tral Junior College during h1·r sophomore year. After graduation from East Cen– tral. Sue attended the Uni– \ 1·rsity of Mississippi where sh1· eontinued her work in spP!'l"h and theatre.
