The Young Artists Re– cital is an event to showcase the brightest and best of Union's young musical talent. Each of the nine per– formers was selected by his or her music teacher as being' an especially gifted student with the potential and ability to be
considered a 'young ar– tist'. ''An excellent one hour program featuring our best talent will be present at this time," said pro– gram coordinator David Germany, "and I hope the public will attend." Featured musicians at the Young Artist Recital,
which begins at 2 p.m., are: Lynn Alawine; voice student of Elaine Brown of Meridian; Wayne Bishop, piano student of Nancy Ogletree of Union; Merrill Cassell, voice stu– dent of Suzanne Nobles of Clarke College; Donna Gomillion, piano student of Nancy Ogletree of
lUnion; Pam Savell, piano student of Susan Neal of Union; Pam Winstead, piano student of David Gennany of Union. Rhe– son~a Dukes, saxophone player, and Lisa Hamm, clarinet player, both stu– dents of UHS Band Direc– tor Mike Tucker. Immediately tollowing· the recital, an art exhibit will feature the works of Newton and Neshoba County adult art students participating in the Be– ginning Painting night class at East Central Junior College. Landscapes, figures, still-life scenes and na– ture scenes of pastels, · oils, water colors, acrylics and pencil drawings will be hung for this show. Participating artists are: Helen Ozbom of Union; Jerry Dunajick of Little Rock; Glenda Reilly of Conehatta; Anne Scog- ~ . , Cora Jones, and licia Smith of Decatur; tty Thames, Madeline ompson, Ruth McMul- , Sally Hart, and anda Freeman of New– n; and Robert Kilpat- 'ck, Lisa Pou, Barbara ou, and Shirley Skinner f Philadelphia. Peoples Bank of Miss– issippi, N.A. will sponsor a joint music recital and art show this Sunday afternoon, April 12th, at the Union Public Library. The program is a fourth in a series this year sponsored by the Cultural Exhibits Program. .
