InMemoriam - AthleticHall of FameMember Wilmer J. James, Jr., (’57), a member of the ECCC Athletic Hall of Fame, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020. He was an engineer and served more than 41 years with the Mississippi Department of Transportation before his retirement in 2000. He was active in the Benevolence Ministry, Home Bound ministry, and Prime Timers Senior Adult Group at Crossgates Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Jackson James, stepson Steve Davis, stepdaughter Jennifer Davis, and a sister Judi James Kramer. InMemoriam - Former Alumnus of the Year Donald Max Huey (’65), a former ECCC Alumnus of the Year, died Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at his home in Decatur. He served the banking industry for 41 years before retiring as President and CEO from First National Bank of Picayune.

During his career he served in various leaderships roles in the banking industry and his community, including a five- year term on the State Board of Community and Junior Colleges. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Cook Huey (’65), daughter Renee Presley, son Stewart Huey, and seven grand- children. InMemoriam - Former Instructor &Alumna of the Year Former ECCC instructor and Alumna of the Year Carol Farish Vickers (’58) of Decatur died Aug. 19, 2020. A private graveside service was held Friday, August 21, at Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia. Vickers taught English at East Central from 1983 until her retirement in 1992. She also worked with older adults in the college’s Adult Basic Educa- tion program for many years and was the college yearbook advisor. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Ovid S. and Carol F. Vickers Scholarship through the ECCC Foundation, P.O. Box 129, Decatur, MS 39327.
