Soccer Season Both the 2019 Warrior and Lady Warrior soccer teams ad vanced to the postseason. The Lady Warriors finished 9-7-1 overall and in third place in the MACJC North Division. The Lady Warriors lost at Jones College in the MACJC quarterfi nals. The Warriors also finished in third place in the MACJC North Division and lost at Jones in the state quarterfinals The Warriors were 6-12 overall. • Five East Central soccer players were honored by the NJ CAA or the MACJC for their play during the season. Sopho more forward Leah Anderson of Leyland, United Kingdom, and sophomore midfielder Macey Spencer of Florence were named to the NJCAA Women’s All-Region 23 Soccer Team. Anderson and freshman defender Susie Stevison of Long Beach were named to the MACJC Women’s All-Conference Soccer Team. Sophomore defender/midfielder Joel Hill, who prepped at Newton County High School, and sophomore forward/midfielder Terrell Johnson of Jackson Murrah were named to the MACJC Men’s All-Conference Soccer Team. An derson, Spencer, midfielder Lia Richardson of Huntingdon, United Kingdom, and goalkeeper Emily Pitts of Pearl were selected to play in the MACJC Soccer Sophomore Women’s All-Star Game. Hill, Johnson, and midfielder Jake Cockroft of Kosciusko were selected to play in the men’s All-Star Game. Hill was named Most Valuable Player for the North squad. • Anderson was named MACJC

Named to the MACJC Second Team All-Conference South Offense were freshman running back JD Martin of We tumpka, Ala., and freshman offensive tackle Jacqui Graham of Montgomery, Ala., Jefferson Davis. Selected for the MACJC Second Team All-Conference South Defense were sophomore linebacker Elijah Keyes of Mize and freshman cornerback Desmond Williams of For syth, Ga., Mary Persons. Doss and Beauplan were also named to the NJCAA All-Region 23 Team. • Beauplan was twice named MACJC Special Sixty-five student-athletes were honored by either the National Junior College Athletic Association or the Missis sippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges, or both organizations, for their academic performance during the 2018-19 academic year. In all, 39 ECCC student-athletes were recognized by the NJCAA and 65 were honored by the MACJC. • Led by the Lady Warrior softball team, five varsity sports teams earned NJCAA Academic Team of the Year Honor able Mention awards for having met the grade-point average requirement of 3.00 or better for the 2018-19 academic year. With a 3.65 team GPA, the softball team led all such programs in the 15-team MACJC and finished tied for third among all softball programs in the NJCAA. The women’s tennis team finished seventh among all women’s tennis pro grams in the NJCAA with a 3.56 GPA. The Lady Warrior ten nis team was No. 4 among all such programs in the MACJC. The men’s tennis team finished the year with a team GPA of 3.34, which ranked No. 5 in the nation and No. 2 in the state among men’s tennis programs. The Warrior baseball team compiled a 3.30 GPA and was tied for 23rd in the NJCAA among baseball teams and was No. 3 in the MACJC. The ECCC women’s soccer team had a 3.08 team GPA and was tied for No. 50 in the NJCAA. • Both the ECCC men’s and women’s tennis teams along with five players from each team were recognized for aca demic success by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any program that has a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.20 or above. The ECCC tennis teams were one of only 10 men’s and 10 women’s community/junior college teams in the nation rec ognized with the team award. In order to earn ITA Scholar Athlete status a player must have a grade-point average of at least 3.50 for the most recent academic year. Player of the Week and United Soc cer Coaches National Player of the Week during the season, while fresh man forward Hannah Herren of Flor ence was named an MACJC Player of the Week. Anderson scored 16 goals this season for the Lady Warriors, including two hat tricks. She tied for the most goals in a career with 22 and is in second place all-time in most goals in a season. Football Season
The 2019 Warriors finished the season with a 4-5 record, while facing six ranked teams, including two that were ranked No. 1 in the nation at some point during the year. • Led by Most Valuable Offensive Lineman TyKeem Doss, seven ECCC football players received MACJC All-Conference recognition. Doss, a 6-5, 332-pound offensive tackle from Aliceville, Ala., was named both Most Valuable Offensive Lineman and MACJC First-Team All-Conference South Of fense after a stellar sophomore season. Joining Doss on the MACJC First-Team All-Conference South Offense was freshman kicking specialist Robens Beauplan from Riverdale High School in Lehigh Acres, Fla.
