F.6 CHILDCARE LEAD TEACHER

General Statement of the Function : Lead teachers must be dedicated to the improvement of the teaching profession and able to provide constructive criticism and helpful solutions to other teachers without alienating or discouraging them. They should possess good observational and analytical skills and be able to offer fresh, creative solutions in difficult situations. The Childcare Lead Teacher reports to the Childcare Development Technology Director.

Duties and Responsibilities :

1. Develop and implement activities appropriate for young children in a preschool program; 2. Provide nutritious snacks and lunches; 3. Ensure that the equipment and the facility are adequate, clean, well maintained and safe at all times; 4. Provide weekly and monthly schedules of activities; 5. Develop culturally appropriate programs and activities; 6. Develop activities that introduce math and literacy concepts; 7. Establish policies and procedures including acceptable disciplinary policies and emergency procedures; 8. Ensure children are supervised at all times; 9. Provide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games and storytelling; 10. Build children’s esteem by comforting children, establishing routines, and providing positive guidance; 11. Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable 12. Communicate clearly and effectively so that children understand; 13. Observe children and make note of progress or deficiencies; 14. Integrate special needs children in a positive and respectful manner; 15. Communicate with parents and members of the community regarding program expectations, program activities and their child’s progress; 16. Discuss identified problems and needs with instructors as appropriate;

17. Participate in community activities; 18. Promote literacy and early education; 19. Develop and maintain current, accurate, and confidential client files; and 20. Perform other duties as assigned.
