D.34 PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST/SITE COORDINATOR

General Statement of the Function : The Personal Development Specialist/Site Coordinator will work with individuals, businesses, and industries in the East Central Community College District to provide individual educational counseling and individual and/or group assessments for all categories of literacy and job skills as well as oversee day-to-day operations of a Career Advancement Center. The Personal Development Specialist/Site Coordinator will report to the Director of Workforce Development and function as a member of the East Central Community College Workforce Development team. 1. Provide a valid assessment program for individuals that will measure their present capabilities and skills; 2. Provide counseling to assist individuals with the development of personal long- and short-range educational plans and goals; 3. Implement assessment provisions to address long- and short-range job forecasts based on information received through networking with area human resource managers and the Mississippi Department of Employment Security; 4. Maintain a system for tracking workforce education/development program clients to measure program effectiveness and to provide feedback for continuous improvement; 5. Participate in employer needs assessments and program planning to focus on identified area workforce employee needs and requirements; 6. Assist Workforce Development Coordinator project managers to promote assessment services; 7. Participate in the College’s team approach to workforce education and development; 8. Provide special efforts to upgrade low-level and underemployed workers and other special populations (such as veterans and those military who are returning from deployment); 9. Assist with pre-employment training programs for new and existing industries; 10. Serve as coordinator for access to an East Central Community College - Career Advancement Center; 11. Coordinate, organize, schedule, and promote delivery of instruction via technological formats within a Career Advancement Center; 12. Assure that facility resources and equipment are functional and maintained; and 13. Perform other duties as assigned. Duties and Responsibilities :
