D.33 NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR

General Statement of the Function : The Network Administrator will implement, and administer the College network, all network appliances, servers, and enterprise software; supervise the Information Technology Technical Specialist and the Information Technology Software Support Specialist in supporting the College’s instructional technology and desktop software for faculty and staff for the main campus and other locations in the five county district; and assist the Dean of Information Technology in developing the short-range and long-range network, server, and instructional technology plans for the College. The Network Administrator will report to the Dean of Information Technology.

Duties and Responsibilities :

1. Administer the local area network (LAN), including network appliances; 2. Administer the College servers and enterprise resources such as domain directory services, email, and file systems; 3. Supervise the Information Technology Technical Specialist and the Information Technology Software Support Specialist in the support of the College’s personal computers, printers, other technology equipment, instructional software, desktop software, and video conference equipment; 4. Administer the College’s link with the state’s wide area network (WAN) including access to the internet; 5. Research and implement IT security measures to harden network and server infrastructure against internal and external threats; 6. Provide technology instruction and training for the administration, faculty, and staff; 7. Assist the Dean of Information Technology in the development of short-range and long-range network technology plans; 8. Provide ongoing planning for enhanced utilization of technology in network, instruction and support areas; 9. Provide documentation for Information Technology procedures and LAN Infrastructure; and 10. Perform other duties as assigned.
