D.23 DIRECTOR OF HOUSING/STUDENT ACTIVITIES

General Statement of the Function : The Director of Housing and Student Activities reports directly to the Vice President for Student Services. He/she is responsible for activities pertaining to student life and the residence halls. He/she also serves as the sponsor of the Student Body Association. He/she also serves as a student recruiter as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities :

1. Recommend and manage the annual budget in the areas of Housing, Student Activities, and Intramural Sports; 2. Assign rooms and maintain a current directory of students living in each residence hall. 3. Serve as direct supervisor of all Residence Hall personnel; 4. Enforce college regulations related to residence hall living; 5. Supervise weekly room inspections of campus housing (men’s and women’s); 6. Maintain housing inventories; 7. Supervise Resident Assistant Program, the residence halls; 8. Oversee housing concession areas and lobby areas of the residence halls; 9. Make requests to the maintenance department for housing repairs; 10. Report to business office all room and furniture damages to be charged to the students; 11. Sign or designate signees for all residence hall withdrawals; 12. Encourage wholesome living within campus housing; 13. Report discipline problems to the Dean of Students; 14. Serve as a faculty advisor to the residence hall council; 15. Serve as the sponsor of the Student Body Association; 16. Schedule campus programming in coordination with the SBA Officers and the Vice President for Student Services; 17. Schedule and supervise all campus elections in coordination with the Vice President for Student Services and the Publications Coordinator; 18. Assist with the College Orientation program as assigned; 19. Schedule and supervise Work Study Students as appropriate; 20. Assist the Dean of Students to ensure that the Campus Police and Housing offices are staffed during critical times; 21. Serve as a recruiter for the College as assigned; 22. Assist with the coordination of the College’s Activity Center in conjunction with the Director of the Eddie M. Smith Student Union and the Dean of Students; 23. Serve as point of contact for all off-campus groups that use campus facilities after the groups have been calendared by the Office of the Vice President for Instruction (cross reference 612, 614); 24. Coordinate the College’s Prevention of Alcohol Abuse and Drug Abuse Program;

25. Plan and implement “Kids College;” 26. Perform other duties as assigned.
