D.7 ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL AID (WORK-STUDY)

General Statement of the Function : The Assistant Director of Financial Aid (Work-Study) reports directly to the Director of Financial Aid. This Assistant is responsible for various duties in the financial aid office and specifically with the student work-study program.

Duties and Responsibilities :

1. Perform general duties as they relate to the Financial Aid Office. 2. Answer all questions concerning financial aid and advise students as to the programs available to them and the application process for these programs. 3. Assist students with filing their applications and with any corrections that may be necessary. 4. Assist in maintaining a file on each student applying for financial aid. These records are to be kept for a number of years as set by the Department of Education regulations. 5. Perform computer applications as required in the daily financial aid office functions. 6. Review student financial aid files especially those selected for verification. 7. Review incomplete student files and request additional information needed to complete a file. 8. Award financial aid following all regulations and procedures. 9. Update yearly or as needed the job requests and job descriptions for all student work-study jobs with the work-study supervisors. 10. Determine the students' eligibility for work-study and award jobs. Notify each student awarded work-study of the job assignment and requirements for employment. Notify the work-study supervisors of the student(s) assigned to their area and the maximum earnings allowed for each student. 11. Maintain the work-study program records. Ensure that the work-study time cards are prepared, distributed and collected for proper action. Maintain proper monthly records in the Financial Aid Office, submit time cards to the Business Office and then reconcile payments with the Business Office records. Monitor student earnings carefully to make certain that the students do not exceed their need. 12. Prepare required financial aid reports. 13. Maintain the Financial Aid website and other media outlets. 14. Assist students who transfer to other colleges by advising them of the proper transfer procedures. 15. Attend workshops and training sessions. 16. Perform other duties as assigned.
