DIRECTOR/NURSING FACULTY FOR THE ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING PROGRAM

General Statement of the Function : The Director/Nursing Faculty for the Associate Degree Nursing Program reports directly to the Dean of Healthcare and is responsible for assisting the Dean of Healthcare with coordination and direction of the program, facilitate the teaching and learning process in the classroom; follow established policies and procedures of the College and program; participate in ongoing program quality improvement to support outcomes; and support, encourage, and participate inCollege and program organizations, committees, and activities. Duties and Responsibilities : 1. Must hold a master’s degree with a major in nursing and a minimum of five years of clinical experience as a registered nurse; 2. Must maintain current American Heart Association® Basic Life Support certification, unencumbered nursing license for the state of Mississippi, required immunizations, and annual tuberculosis testing; 3. Must complete and implement an annual professional development plan, which includes ten (10) contact hours of continuing education each academic year and as required for nursing licensure; 4. Must satisfy a criminal history background check pursuant to Section 43-11-13, Mississippi Code of 1972, with no disqualifying factors, and maintain history through fingerprinting or affidavit; 5. Maintains general responsibilities for coordination, direction, planning, development, continuous review, and general effectiveness of program cohorts; 6. Participates and collaborateswith communities of interest, state licensing and accreditation bodies, nursing faculty, dean, and governing organizations on curriculum and standard revisions; 7. Works with College personnel, dean, and appropriate agencies, state and national, in securing and maintaining program accreditation; 8. Be responsible for initiating, directing, and organizing program meetings; 9. Facilitates the teaching and learning process for all students so that each student will have an opportunity to achieve the objectives and College and program outcomes; 10. Maintains accurate records of student class attendance and progression and prepares appropriate reports as needed; 11. Assists in assessment, planning, organization, implementation, evaluation, and review process of the programs of the College to ensure continuous quality improvement; 12. Participates in Healthcare Advisory Council to share information and seek input in program development and evaluation; 13. Submits requests to the Dean of Healthcare Education during the annual budget revision process and for materials, supplies, and equipment; 14. Serves as academic advisor for assigned students for the College guidanceprogram; 15. Counsels any student who seeks or needs assistance; 16. Maintains appropriate office hours as required by College policy and meet the needs of program; 17. Attends all scheduled faculty meetings and division/departmental meetings; 18. Meets with the Dean of Healthcare most months, and as needed, for communication and collaboration of Associate Degree Nursing program goals and functions; 19. Provides faculty representation on assigned College committees as described in the ECCC Policies and Procedures Manual; 20. Participates in college or state level academic/instructional committees asassigned; 21. Participates in professional organizations and other faculty/staff development activities that contribute to professional growth; 22. Supports and encourages all College-sponsored extracurricular activities; 23. Supports and participates in the community affairs that contribute to the total well-being of the College community, program, and individual faculty; 24. Conducts self and family affairs so as to always bring credit to the College and to the community;
