C.10 ASSISTANT BAND DIRECTOR/INSTRUCTOR

General Statement of the Function : The Assistant Band Director/Instructor reports directly to the Director of Bands and is responsible for assisting the Director of Bands.

Duties and Responsibilities :

1. Assists in all areas of the marching band program. 2. Assists with all aspects of show design, to include writing and arranging of show music, fourth quarter music, drill design, set props, and costumes. 3. Assists or directs Fall Ensembles. 4. Directs and coordinates the Spring Concert Band/Stage Band. 5. Directs and coordinates the basketball pep band. 6. Attends and assists on all band and band related trips, as assigned. 7. Coordinates and maintains inventory of uniforms, equipment, music, and any other band related materials, as assigned. 8. Assists with the filing of information on band prospects and present band members. 9. Assists with recruiting for the entire band program, including travel on weekends, to high school marching performances, concert functions, and high school band rehearsals within our five county college district. This also includes phone calls, visits, letters and personal contact. 10. Teach two music appreciation classes per semester. 11. Teach all applied instrumental lessons, major and non-major. 12. Perform with the faculty spring musical pit band, and attend all rehearsals for this band, as assigned. 13. Coordinate the set-up and transport of all sound equipment for campus events, to include keeping records of all sound equipment requests, as assigned. 14. Serve as Faculty Advisor, as assigned. 15. Participate in faculty committees as assigned by the President. 16. Other duties as assigned.
