VICE PRESIDENT FOR INSTRUCTION

General Statement of the Function : The Vice President for Instruction, acting under and in conjunction with the President of the College, has responsibility for all aspects of the academic, career-technical, and general instructional programs of the College. The incumbent supervises the total instructional and instructional support programs of the College and serves as a liaison between faculty, students, and administration. The Vice President for Instruction reports directly to the College President. In the event that the President of the College is physically and/or mentally unable to fulfill the duties of the office of the President, the Vice President for Instruction serves as the Acting President. 1. Supervises and directs all phases of the credit and non-credit instructional programs of the College by working with the various division chairpersons, deans, directors, and committees; 2. Provides leadership and advises the President on all matters related to curriculum and instruction; 3. Coordinates the guidance, counseling, and advising programs of the College; 4. Reviews educational needs of the community and insures that instructional programs are directed toward addressing those ever-changing needs; 5. Supervises and directs the operation of the Library and Success Center; 6. Schedules and presides at all district faculty meetings; 7. Collects information for annual updates to the College Catalog and works with the Office of Public Information to secure printed copies; 8. Supervises the production of schedules, manuals, and other such official College publications related to instruction; 9. Assists in preparation and management of the College budget related to instruction; 10. Assists the Vice President for Institutional Research & Effectiveness in maintaining accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and other instructional and programmatic accrediting bodies specific through planning, developing, and completing required reports and responses; 11. Participates in the development and implementation of the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP); 12. Supervises the deans, directors and division chairpersons included in the instructional divisions of the College; 13. Approves and forwards to the President all recommendations for new instructional personnel; 14. Ensures the College is in compliance with Title VI, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), and Title IX; 15. Chairs the Instructional Council; 16. Plans and supervises faculty development activities; 17. Plans and supervises all evaluation activities related to instructional programs; 18. Serves as an advocate for the College through community involvement and leadership; 19. Approves all applications for graduation and supervises the planning of all graduation and pinning ceremonies; 20. Serves as Acting President of the College in the event that the President is physically and/or mentally unable to fulfill the duties of the office of President; 21. Attends meetings of the Board of Trustees; 22. Implements directives from the President of the College; and 23. Performs other duties as assigned by the President of the College.
