SOLICITATION OF NOMINATIONS

It shall be the prerogative of the President of the College to solicit nominations from the campus community and alumni for the naming of college buildings, facilities, or part(s) of a building or facility. If nominations are solicited, the President of the College will determine the deadline for submission of nominations. The President of the College, may at his/her discretion, develop a list of Named Gift Opportunities for an identified major gifts campaign for consideration of approval by the Board of Trustees. The list of Named Gift Opportunities will identify the building or facility to be named and/or part(s) of the building or facility to be named and the level of giving required for each. The Named Gift Opportunities must be approved by majority vote of the Board of Trustees meeting in regular session. When the President solicits nominations, a Special Recognition Nomination Form for all nominations ( with the exception of a facility being named for a sitting or former president ) will be made available to the campus community and alumni on the College website. The nomination process detailed below will be followed: 1. Nominators should print and complete a Special Recognition Nomination Form available on the College website for each nomination. 2. Nominators should compile a Nomination Packet to include the completed Special Recognition Nomination Form and the required documentation detailed below: a. Listing of nominee’s contributions and service to the College including years of service/attendance/etc.; b. Listing of nominee’s personal and professional accomplishments; c. Letter of Endorsement signed by the nominator including reason(s) why the honor is deserved and why the nominee should be associated with the College in this manner; and d. Two (2) additional Letters of Endorsements from others who are familiar with the nominee and his/her contributions and service to the College. 3. Nominators must return the completed Nomination Packet in a sealed envelope to the Office of the President located in the Arno Vincent Administration Building before the established deadline for submission of nominations. 4. The President will call a meeting of the Special Recognition Committee to review each of the completed Nomination Packets. The Special Recognition Committee will be composed of the six (6) members of the Executive Council and the Director of Alumni Relations & the Foundation who will initially screen each complete Nomination Packet. 5. After reviewing each complete Nomination Packet including all of the required documentation, the Special Recognition Committee will reach consensus on a preferred name(s) for the college building, facility, or part(s) of a building or facility utilizing a process as determined by the College President. The President, on behalf of the Special Recognition Committee, will then present preferred name(s) in order of preference for each naming opportunity to the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees. The Nomination Packet(s) for the recommended honoree(s) will also be forwarded to the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees. 6. Due to the sensitivity of this process, the nominator(s) shall keep the nomination confidential as much as possible, especially to the prospective honoree. The Special Recognition Committee will also adhere to confidentiality during this process. 7.
