Policy Title: WARRIOR CORPS
The Warrior Corps is a special group of students selected to represent East Central Community College (ECCC) before the public. Each member selected must display loyalty to and enthusiasm for the goals of the college. Members of the group must be courteous, dependable, cooperative, and attentive to others. They must have a good scholastic standing, be well-mannered, demonstrate poise and leadership ability, and be good listeners and good speakers. In every activity, each member should reflect the character and integrity of East Central Community College. 1. Duties to Perform A. Hospitality - This will include serving as “greeters” and/or tour guides and assisting with the registration of participants at special activities held at the college. B. Recruiting - This will include visiting high schools, staffing booths and displays, and communicating with prospective students by telephone and by letter. C. Hosting - This will include set-up, service, and clean-up as needed for events sponsored by or held at the college. 3. The applicant must have maintained a minimum of 2.0 GPA in high school/college. 4. The applicant must have participated in various high school activities and plan to participate in various college activities. 5. The applicant must have maintained exemplary disciplinary records while in high school/college. 6. The applicant must provide 2 letters of recommendation from high school faculty/staff or ECCC faculty/staff. C. Qualifications Required to Maintain Membership include: 1. Warrior Corps members must remain enrolled as full-time students at ECCC . 2. Warrior Corps members must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA while at ECCC. 3. Warrior Corps members must participate in other campus activities. 4. Warrior Corps members must maintain exemplary disciplinary records while attending ECCC. 5. Warrior Corps members must perform the duties and exemplify the character expected of members. D. Failure to maintain Warrior Corps qualifications will place a Warrior Corps member on probation the succeeding semester. If requirements are not met after the probationary semester, membership will be suspended. 3. Application Process A. Complete an official Warrior Corps application form and provide 2 letters of recommendation from high school faculty/staff or ECCC faculty/staff. B. The total membership will be approximately 2.5 percent of East Central’s enrollment. 2. Guidelines for Selection/Continuation A. Qualifications for Freshmen/Sophomores include: 1. The applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student at ECCC. 2. The applicant must score 18 or above on the ACT.
