Policy No: 805.1 Policy Contact: Vice President for Student Services Policy Title: FINANCIAL AID AND PAYMENT POLICY FOR TUITION, ROOM, AND BOARD Students planning for fall enrollment at East Central Community College should apply for financial aid before April 1, to facilitate the requirements for the payment of fees. Approved and awarded financial aid may be used as the basis to defer charges for payment of tuition, room, and board up to the amount of the total semester financial aid. Tuition may also be deferred if a student’s employer verifies in writing that the employer will pay tuition. Students may charge in the bookstore if the total semester aid amount is greater than the charges for the semester up to the amount of the remaining semester financial aid. Students not eligible for financial aid must pay l00% of total costs except for board which can be paid in 3 equal payments, i.e., 1/3 at registration, 1/3 within the 6th week, and 1/3 within the 12th week.

Payment policy for financial aid programs:

1. All residence hall students must pay the $60 room deposit.

2. Deferred charges will not be approved for amounts greater than the amount of financial aid.

3. After six (6) weeks, one-third (1/3) of the deferred charges must be paid in the Business Office if financial aid application procedures have not been completed. 4. At mid-term all deferred charges, less the final board payment, are due for payment if financial aid application procedures have not been completed.

5. The final board payment is due the 12th week of each semester.

Payment policy for employer-paid tuition and textbooks:

1. If a student’s employer is to pay tuition and/ or the cost for textbooks, the student must have a letter of verification from his/her employer to that effect at the time of registration. 2. Credit will be granted in the bookstore for the purchase of textbooks if the student’s employer verifies in writing that the employer will pay for the textbooks.
