Policy Title: EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM EVALUATION

Instructional program review is integrated with two existing processes. First, the annual institutional effectiveness plan. Second, the cyclical statewide curriculum review process. The College’s annual institutional effectiveness (IE) planning process directly addresses expected outcomes for all educational programs (see Policy 202.3 DEFINITION OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM). As part of IE planning, expected outcomes are defined and assessed at the program level. In addition, results are used in the development of actions for improvement. The state of Mississippi system of fifteen public community college engage in a cyclical and regular process of curriculum review, both for university-parallel discipline and career-technical education. ECCC sends selected instructors to represent the College at these collaborative working sessions according to the appropriate cyclical timeframes, typically every five years. Out of this process comes changes and updates to statewide curricular frameworks that also serve, for university-parallel coursework, to advise articulation with baccalaureate-offering universities. The annual IE plan and summaries of cyclical curriculum reviews are presented annually to the Board of Trustees.
