Policy Title: POLICY ON COLLEGE-OWNED HOUSING FOR COLLEGE EMPLOYEES

The following shall be considered the official policies of the East Central Community College (ECCC) Board of Trustees pertaining to the provision, maintenance, and disposition of housing for the use of and/or assignment to college personnel.

General Policies Related to College-Owned Housing

1. Existing college-owned houses will be maintained and repaired as long as they are structurally sound and as funds are available. 2. No new single-unit houses will be constructed or renovated without adequate study and approval by the Board of Trustees. 3. All repairs on college-owned houses that are estimated to exceed $10,000 shall have advance approval by the Board of Trustees. 4. If property is to be disposed of, it will be appraised by a certified appraiser and advertised for sale according to state law. 5. College employees residing in college-owned housing who are not required to live in college owned housing are encouraged to provide their own housing after a five-year period. 6. Only contracted employees, coaches, and/or employees required to live in college-owned housing ( see below ) will be allowed to live in college-owned housing units unless otherwise approved by the President. 7. The Board of Trustees will, upon recommendation of the President, determine the amount of rent to be charged for residing in college-owned housing. 8. The College reserves the right to inspect any college-owned house at any time provided notice has been given to the occupants at least twenty-four hours prior to the visit. 9. The College reserves the right to move an occupant from one house to a vacant house when extensive repairs are needed or when other circumstances may warrant such moves. 10. College-owned housing is provided for employees and members of their immediate family only. Co-habitation of non-married couples in college-owned housing will not be allowed.

Requirements of Occupants of College-Owned Housing

1. Rent must be deducted from payroll checks and the necessary arrangements must be made in the Business Office. 2. Occupants must agree to keep the housing units and yards clean and in a presentable manner. The upkeep of the yard is the responsibility of the occupants.
