Policy Title: EMPLOYEE LEAVE College policy provides for eligible employees of East Central Community College to accumulate annual leave (vacation) and sick leave (illness). Accumulation and use of leave is considered a benefit of working for the College and must be utilized in accordance with this policy. In addition to annual and sick leave, eligible College employees are allowed to utilize two (2) personal days in accordance with this policy. Please note that any employee who does not report to work for three (3) consecutive days and does not properly notify their supervisor and/or request for leave time to be approved is considered to have resigned voluntarily. Annual Leave All full-time personnel employed on a twelve-month basis will be able to accumulate and utilize a total of 80 hours annual (sometimes referred to vacation) leave per fiscal year, to accumulate monthly at the rate of 6.67 hours per month, with pay subject to the exceptions and restrictions listed below. Personnel employed on a nine-, ten-, or eleven-month basis do not accumulate annual leave. Part-time employees working 12 months per year and 20 hours or more per week are entitled to annual leave pro-rated in conformity to hours worked. 1. No employee will be allowed to have more than 120 hours of accrued annual leave at any time. Unused annual leave may be transferred to the employee’s sick leave (limited to 40 hours per calendar year.) Any unused annual leave in excess of 120 hours will be forfeited by the employee. Employees must notify the Office of Human Resources, in writing, of their intention to transfer any unused annual leave to sick leave prior to the accumulation of 120 hours. Annual leave may only be transferred to sick leave once a year, in November. A. Exceptions & Restrictions for Annual Leave 3. All requests for annual leave must be submitted online to one’s immediate supervisor and then to the appropriate vice president for final approval. Changes in requests should be made in like manner. 4. Effective July 1, 2020, annual leave balance available to an employee at the time of separation of service from the College will be credited for retirement purposes with the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS). Annual leave may be taken in half-hour increments (30 minutes) as determined by the total amount of missed time in a work day. A full day of annual leave is equivalent to 8 hours. Please note that any accrued compensatory time must be taken prior to utilization of annual leave. Sick Leave In regards to sick leave, all eligible full-time employees of East Central Community College will be covered by the provisions of this policy. Part-time employees working 20 or more hours per week are entitled to sick leave pro-rated in conformity to hours worked. 2. No pay will be provided for unused annual leave; B.
